Jennifer Elie Salibi
Leader at the Observatory on Human Rights at the UN
Jennifer Salibi is entering her second year in the Programme de droit canadien (J.D. & LL.L.), and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Ottawa.
Jennifer’s passion for human rights and international law is deeply rooted in her personal and academic experiences.
While undertaking her bachelor's degree, she worked as a Parliamentary Guide for over three years, meeting visitors and parliamentarians from all over the world. She also volunteered as both a Peer Wellness Educator for the Harm Reduction Team, and an Event Organizer for UNICEF uOttawa. She additionally participated in the selective United Nations course, winning the Distinguished Delegation Award at the NMUN New York Conference.
In her first year of law school, Jennifer served as Assistant Editor for the Ottawa Law Review and will be continuing there as Associate Editor. She was also a Project Lead for Pro Bono Students Canada, working closely with the Lifer’s Liaison Group to promote the rights of incarcerated individuals. Furthermore, she served as First-Year Representative for the Association étudiante du Programme de droit canadien and will be continuing there as Director of Internal Affairs.
This summer, she is working as a Research Assistant for Professor Francois Larocque, exploring linguistic rights, as well as a Student Law Clerk for Hooper Law.
Jennifer is eager to join the UN Observatory on Human Rights to deepen her knowledge, develop new skills, and most importantly, promote human rights.
