About the event

This Lunch and Learn invites students into a reflective conversation on leadership grounded in lived experience, voice, and empathy. Drawing on storytelling, advocacy, and work in educational and legal contexts, Jill Bobula and Alicia Smith explore how leadership can emerge from personal trajectories shaped by neurodiversity and learning differences and be exercised through relationships, translation across differences, and sustained engagement with others.

Through their dialogue, the session highlights how personal narratives—when shared, listened to, and taken seriously—can challenge dominant assumptions, foster understanding, and gradually influence practices and institutions. Students are invited to reflect on leadership not as a fixed position, but as a practice that moves between self-awareness, responsibility toward others, and the capacity to contribute to more inclusive ways of organizing, educating, and living together.
