About the event

Senator Michèle Audette’s work has profoundly shaped national conversations on justice, identity, and the rights of Indigenous women. Drawing from her journey—from community organizing to national decision-making bodies—she will explore the essence of leadership in an Indigenous context. She will highlight the roots of leadership instilled in her through millennia of knowledge passed down by grandmothers. Leadership is in her DNA, her body, her blood, her spirit. It is a lineage that comes from her family. She will share her experiences as president of major Indigenous women’s organizations, as a commissioner of the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, and in her current role as a senator working toward institutional change.

This session will invite students to reflect on how leadership can carry both grief and hope, in the service of justice, the land, and future generations.
