Aysha Khan
Leader at the Observatory on Human Rights at the UN
Aysha Khan is a second-year student in the Civil Law Section of the Faculty of Law at the University of Ottawa.
Aysha views the law as a tool for dialogue, social change, and the protection of human dignity. She is deeply committed to access to justice and became involved during her first year in a Pro Bono research project examining access to healthcare services for Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals within Quebec’s health and social services system. She is now taking on a new leadership role as Coordinator of the Pro Bono Students Canada (PBSC) program, where she will oversee teams working on a portfolio of 25 to 30 legal projects and placements.
A highly creative individual, Aysha uses her graphic design skills to support student life, notably as Vice-President of Communications for the Debate Committee and as Co-President of Fauteux Merch. Her involvement within the Faculty earned her a nomination for the Leadership Maillet Award at the 2026 Grand Maillet Gala.
Intellectually curious, Aysha is passionate about debate, research, and the exploration of new ideas. This commitment was recognized through her receipt of the Development Scholarship from the Chambre des notaires du Québec. During her first year, she also gained valuable experience working as an Interpreter Guide at the Parliament of Canada, where she developed strong communication and public engagement skills.
Joining the Observatory is a natural continuation of Aysha’s commitment to accessibility, inclusion, and the pursuit of a more human-centered legal system. She looks forward to contributing her analytical skills, creativity, and passion to projects advancing the protection and promotion of human rights.
