Amina Hadji
Leader at the Observatory on Human Rights at the UN
Originally from Montreal, Amina is entering her third year of the Civil Law program at the University of Ottawa. Driven by a strong interest in human rights and the evolving challenges of contemporary law, she is particularly interested in freedom of the press, freedom of religion, privacy rights, and issues affecting marginalized communities.
Deeply engaged in student life, Amina serves as Vice-President of the Sports and Entertainment Law Association at the University of Ottawa and actively contributes to the initiatives of the Intellectual Property Law Students’ Association. She will also represent her peers on the newly elected executive board of the Fédération des étudiants en droit du Québec (FEDQ), furthering her commitment to student advocacy and the development of meaningful initiatives.
Her community involvement extends well beyond the university setting. As a member of the Board of the Saint-Michel Youth Forum, she participates in a variety of initiatives aimed at supporting vulnerable populations, including the organization of food and essential-item distributions for individuals experiencing homelessness. This involvement has deepened her understanding of issues related to human dignity and social exclusion.
Amina distinguished herself at the 2026 Guérin-Sopinka Interfaculty Moot Competition, where she received the award for Best Opening Statement, recognizing both the strength of her legal reasoning and her advocacy skills.
Driven by a desire to contribute to legal discussions that have a tangible impact on society, Amina will complete her Bar admission internship with Gowling WLG in Montreal.
