Patricio Crispin

Patricio Crispin is entering his second year of the Civil Law (LL.L.) program at the University of Ottawa. Trilingual in French, English, and Spanish, he has a particular interest in human rights, international law, migration-related issues, and matters affecting immigrant and Francophone communities. His personal and academic journey has led him to become actively involved in legal, community, and international initiatives.

In the summer of 2026, Patricio was selected as a delegate of the Canadian Section to the 11th Francophone Youth Parliament of the Assemblée parlementaire de la Francophonie, held in Yaoundé, Cameroon. This experience gave him the opportunity to engage with young parliamentarians from across the Francophone world on issues related to mobility, international solidarity, and climate justice.

During his first year of law school, Patricio became involved in several student and community initiatives. Elected as a representative of his cohort, he participates in discussions with the Executive Council of the Civil Law Section, the deans, and faculty members in order to contribute to academic life and represent the interests of his peers. He also volunteered with Pro Bono Students Canada, where he contributed to a project aimed at improving access to justice for members of 2SLGBTQ+ communities experiencing homelessness, particularly through legal research and public legal education. His commitment to inclusion is also reflected in his involvement with the University of Ottawa’s Latin American Law Students’ Association, where he helps organize initiatives promoting integration, mentorship, and connections between students and members of the legal community.

Professionally, Patricio worked this past summer as a law student at Dorion Leclerc Avocats. He currently serves as a teaching assistant for Spanish courses offered by the Faculty of Arts at the University of Ottawa, where he leads practical sessions for groups of students and designs workshops aimed at developing oral communication skills and language learning.

Patricio is particularly enthusiastic about contributing to the work of the Observatory on Human Rights at the United Nations, where he hopes to deepen his understanding of international human rights protection mechanisms, pursue research on contemporary issues, and actively participate in the Observatory’s initiatives.
