The Honorable Mélanie Roy

Associate Chief Judge of the Youth Division

Mélanie Roy obtained her Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from the Université de Sherbrooke in 1996. She also completed a Master of Laws (LL.M.) at the Université de Montréal in 2004.

Called to the Bar in 1997, she practised exclusively at the Centre jeunesse de la Montérégie in youth law. At the time of her appointment to the Court of Québec in November 2011, she held the position of Chief of Litigation.

Ms. Roy was appointed a judge of the Court of Québec, Youth Division, in Longueuil on November 16, 2011. From 2017 to 2023, she served as Coordinating Judge for the Montérégie region.

On February 1, 2024, Ms. Roy was appointed Associate Chief Judge of the Youth Division for a seven-year term. In this role, she is notably responsible for judicial education and Indigenous affairs. Since March 26, 2024, she has also served as a member of the Conseil de la magistrature du Québec.
