The Honourable Karine Joizil

Justice Karine Joizil holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Montreal and a specialized graduate degree in public administration from the École nationale d’administration publique. She was admitted to the Quebec Bar in 2001.

Justice Joizil began her practice at the law firm Fasken Martineau in Montreal, focusing primarily on litigation in the areas of civil liability, administrative law, and intellectual property. She subsequently joined a boutique litigation firm and a regional law firm. At the time of her appointment, she was practicing in the litigation group at McCarthy Tétrault, where she managed high-profile civil and commercial litigation cases, particularly in medical malpractice and class-action lawsuits. She also has expertise in access to information and privacy law.
Justice Joizil also taught public and administrative law at the École du Barreau du Québec for nearly twenty years.

Committed to mentoring and developing the next generation of lawyers, she has served as a formal and informal mentor to many young attorneys. In addition, she has been actively involved in her community and her profession as a member of various boards of directors and committees, including the Haitian Junior Chamber of Commerce, the Canadian Bar Association—Quebec Division, the Advocates Society, and the Advisory Committee of Faculty of Law at the University of Montreal.

Judge Joizil is married and the mother of two children.
