Felix Amoh-Siaw
Interdisciplinary scholar and Pierre Elliot Trudeau Foundation Scholar (2022-2025)
Dr. Felix Amoh-Siaw is an interdisciplinary scholar and Pierre Elliot Trudeau Foundation Scholar (2022-2025) whose research and professional work centre on human rights, international interventions, peacebuilding, and the experiences and perspectives of local populations in Africa. His doctoral research examines how local populations perceive and respond to external interventions in humanitarian crises, with a particular focus on West and East Africa.
Beyond his research, Felix has experience in anti-Black racism, community advocacy, knowledge mobilization, and community-oriented work. He has taught Political Science and African Studies at the university and college levels and currently works as a Black Initiatives Coordinator for the UBC Southern Medical Program, Interior.
He is particularly interested in creating spaces where academic knowledge is accessible beyond the university and where students and communities can meaningfully engage in conversations about global affairs, human rights, and social change. His work is grounded in a strong belief in interdisciplinary dialogue, locally grounded knowledge, and the importance of connecting scholarship to practice.
Felix has held several leadership and service roles in academic and community settings. He is currently working to turn his doctoral dissertation into a book manuscript that questions Africa’s engagement with international institutions, the politics of humanitarian intervention, colonialism, decolonization, and what he terms bespoke anti-neocolonialism.
