Aya Appolinaire
Ambassador of the Republic of the Congo to Canada
Appolinaire Aya has served as Ambassador of the Republic of the Congo (Congo-Brazzaville) to Canada since June 2024.
Prior to his appointment to Canada, he served for 16 years as a Counsellor in Paris, where he was responsible for investment matters, monitoring files related to French commitments in the Republic of the Congo, and overseeing the country’s international communications. Earlier in his career, he served as Deputy Director of Protocol, responsible for distinguished guests of the Head of State.
Before assuming his current diplomatic post, Mr. Aya served as Ambassador-at-Large to the President of the Republic.
A graduate of the École normale supérieure de Brazzaville, Appolinaire Aya holds a Master’s degree in Philosophy as well as a CAPES teaching qualification.
